    Special Town Meeting

What is Your Vision for Salisbury?

Tuesday, May 4, 1999

7:00 to 9:00 PM

Salisbury Civic Center, 315 South Boundary Street

The future of Salisbury is in our hands.

The last twenty years have seen tremendous change in Salisbury. By all accounts, the next two decades promise to be even more dynamic. It’s time we all took another look at our City— where we've come from, where we're headed, and what we can do now to ensure the best possible future for our community, our homes, our businesses, and our children. That's what this meeting is all about.

The process of creating a new Comprehensive Plan has begun.

Salisbury has begun the process of preparing a new Comprehensive Plan. To provide guidance to the effort, the City Council has appointed a special Vision 2020 Steering Committee made up of interested citizens from every part of our City. But the Steering Committee needs your input before recommendations are made. That's why we're holding this major city-wide meeting as early as possible in the planning process—to hear your ideas now so that we may take them into consideration as the plan is being developed—not after it's all done.

Why you should attend this important meeting.

If you have an interest in the way in which Salisbury is to grow and prosper in the coming years, it is critical that you attend this important meeting. Whether your interest is general or specific, whether it is due to a business you operate, a home or property you own, or other interest that you may have in the future of our City, your input is absolutely necessary for this effort to be successful. The ideas you voice at this meeting will be a major factor in preparing the Comprehensive Plan. And, ultimately, the plan will have an impact on future growth, economic development, environmental quality, transportation, open space, historic preservation, the downtown and other matters of importance to all of us.

Were making sure this meeting will be worth your valuable time.

A few particulars:

The agenda will run from 7:00 to no later than 9:00 PM. (Soft drinks will be available at 6:45)

The meeting format will be carefully organized and facilitated to ensure a productive 2 hours.

There will be plenty of free parking nearby.

A chance to influence the direction of our city and the quality of our life comes along only rarely. Please take advantage of this opportunity and mark Tuesday, May 4th, 6:45 PM at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 South Boundary Street on your calendar now. Don't miss this chance to voice your ideas about the future, or just listen in!
