The purpose of the City of Salisbury Development Services (click on left table) is to provide citizens, builders, and developers a centralized source of information, permit services, zoning, and special district board support. Development Services is responsible for issuing permits such as water connection, sewer connection, driveways, and zoning which includes sign permits. Our staff takes pride in giving accurate information about the zoning of an individual property, city maps, group developments, ordinances, and the location of water and sewer lines. We have the responsibility of enforcement of the City of Salisbury Zoning Ordinance which includes building setbacks, parking requirements, landscaping and signs, just to name a few. Engineering Services (click on left table) acts as the citizen contact for issues relating to traffic, drainage, and street lighting. Engineering provides administration of the Subdivision and Floodway Ordinances and works closely with the Development Services Division to review private development plans relating to grading, drainage and traffic. Engineering serves City Management as a liaison to the North Carolina Department of Transportation and as designer or administrator of many City construction projects. The Community Services Officer, Ann Cooper, conducts programs in the communities and schools. Programs include drug education, crime prevention, Neighborhood Watch and child safety. Officer Cooper's Office phone number is: 704-638-4463
