The city of Salisbury, North Carolina now auctions surplus items via eBay.  In order to bid on our items, you need to be a registered eBay user (you can register here).
 

SECURITY WARNING
I received a phone call from a bidder saying he received a "2nd chance offer" from me (cityofsalisburync) on an item we had sold.  He was instructed to send payment via a Western Union money order.  Thankfully he did not mail payment to the email originator, as this is a scam.  The City of Salisbury does not offer "2nd chance offers".  If an item is sold, and the winning bidder defaults on payment, we will re-list the item, but we WILL NOT send out 2nd chance offers.  We will also NEVER ask for payment to be mailed.  The only forms of payment we accept are PayPal for items requiring shipment, and cash / credit cards / checks / PayPal (pre-paid before pick up) on items that you would like to pick up.  If you receive one of these messages, or any other emails that you think looks suspicious, please forward them to eBay's fraud management division at spoof@ebay.com.

Auction Rules
To bid on an online auction by the City of Salisbury, you must agree to these conditions:
  1. DO NOT bid on our auction unless you are serious. Negative feedback will be left on your account and eBay will be contacted in reference to your actions.
  2. All our items are listed AS IS.  No refunds or exchanges.  Please check the auction description for more info about the item.
  3. We only accept PayPal for items requiring shipment.  When using PayPal to pay for an auction item, please make sure that you have already established an account before bidding on an auction item. Unforeseen problems sometimes can occur when setting up an account (verifying bank info, wrong address listed on credit card, etc.), that can delay payment being sent, and could cause the auction to be re-listed.
  4. Items can be picked up locally, and paid for locally in the form of cash, check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard.  You can also pay via PayPal and then come pick up the item.
  5. Winning bidders have 7 days to pay for an item.  If you are an international bidder, you have 5 days from receipt of the shipping quote email to pay for an item.
  6. We will not sell outside of eBay, or end an auction early.  If you are interested in an item we have up for auction, please bid on it through eBay.
  7. If you do not insure your item, the shipping company cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
  8. The City of Salisbury cannot provide technical assistance or installation help for items we list online.  Please visit the manufacturer's website for support information.
