The Training Division is responsible for delivering training to the entire department on a shift basis. Each shift trains on the same topic, and performs evolutions on what has been covered. Training is provided every day of the week. Typically, the main days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. On these days, training evolutions are conducted for a period of eight hours. Each shift is required to have a minimum of two live burns per year, and each person is required to have a minimum of 240 hours a year. Salisbury Fire Department far exceeds the minimum hours required by the State of North Carolina. The training captain for each shift is assigned to Rescue 1, and is responsible for the entire shift receiving the same training. The training division is under the control of Division Chief Morris.
