The members of the Firefighter Combat Challenge Team from Salisbury Fire Department traveled to Las Vegas for the World competition. This was the first time in Salisbury Fire Department history that we had a team represent our City. The team first traveled to Florida, where they earned the right to compete at the World competition. The members of this team consisted of FCS II Matt Lowman (C Shift), FCS II Tristin Turner (B Shift), FCS I Mike McNeil (B Shift), and FCS I Chris Haynes (B Shift). These four firefighters took it upon themselves to train each day, on and off duty, and put in the effort needed to get into peak physical condition. The members represented Salisbury Fire Department as well as expected, and made us proud. They were one of two teams that competed with four members instead of five. Out of the top 64 teams, they qualified 31st with a time of 1:29.74. The second run came in at 1:25, and they were eliminated from the competition, even though they ran a faster time than the qualifying run. These four firefighters put the Fire Department family first, even above their own, and went the extra mile.
