Salisbury Fire Department Responds Mutual Aid For Working Fire

"A" Shift Quint 2 personnel were dispatched to 815 Peach Orchard Road at 00:53 AM to assist South Salisbury with a possible structure fire. South Salisbury personnel arrived on scene and confirmed a working basement fire. Quint 2 personnel were ordered to take fire attack. Quint 2 personnel made an aggressive attack, and achieved a knockdown after several minutes. Quint 2 stayed on scene for two hours and assisted with overhaul and picking up hose.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To MVA w/ Pin-In

"C" Shift was dispatched to 1910 Mooresville Road at 23:16 PM for a reported traffic accident. Battalion 1 checked on scene with a two vehicle accident, both vehicles overturned. Battalion 1 established command, Rescue 1 stabilized both vehicles and removed the windshields. Quint 2 and Squad 1 used the hydraulic tool to remove the door of the second vehicle, while Quint 4 took the protection line.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To a Reported Structure Fire

"A" Shift was dispatched to 231 Faith Road at 08:01 AM for a reported structure fire inside a restaurant. Charlotte E-74 arrived on scene with light smoke showing and took interior operations with High Point E-8. Quint 1 took the FDC in the rear of the structure, and Battalion 1 established command. Crews from Charlotte and High Point performed extensive overhaul operations in the rear of the building, and secured utilities. Quint 1 personnel assisted in clean-up of the facility from the sprinkler activation.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To a Small Kitchen Fire

"A" Shift was dispatched to 725 Williams Road at 16:08 PM for a reported structure fire. Quint 3 checked on scene with smoke showing from a single story, wood frame residential. Quint 3 made an interior attack, and knocked down a small kitchen fire. Rescue 1 personnel assisted with removing cabinets and a stove, Quint 2 personnel assisted with ventilation. "A" shift personnel were assisted by members of the Wilmington Fire Department.

Surrounding Departments Respond To a Working Fire

A First alarm dispatch was issued for a reported structure fire at 324 S. Caldwell Street at 18:36 PM. Companies arrived to find a working structure fire, from a one story, wood frame residential. Command was established, and crews made an aggressive attack, resulting in a quick knock down. The companies that handled this alarm were: Gastonia E-59, High Point E-8, Concord Quint 2, Mooresville L-1, Charlotte E-8, and Battalion 1 was manned by Concord personnel.

Salisbury Fire Department Retired Captain Passes Away

It is with sadness that the Salisbury Fire Department announces the passing of retired Fire Captain Marvin L. Stone. M. L. Stone became a member of the Salisbury Fire Department on August 21, 1946.  He held various ranks within the department including Firefighter, Driver/Engineer and was promoted to Fire Captain on September 1, 1957. Captain Stone retired on June 30, 1978 after 32 years of service with the City of Salisbury and its Fire Department. Captain Stone passed this morning. Captain Stone lived in Salisbury after retirement and was active in the Salisbury Fire Department Retirees Activities.

Salisbury Fire Department Gets Two Working Fires In One Shift

"A" Shift personnel from Quint 1 were dispatched to 825 Dunns Mountain Church Road at 16:34 PM for a reported mobile home fire in Union's district. Union personnel checked on scene with heavy smoke and fire showing, and ordered Quint 1 to take primary search. After achieving a knockdown and an all clear, Quint 1 personnel were ordered to take overhaul. The home suffered significant damage, and took extensive overhaul operations to bring the incident under control.


"A" Shift was dispatched to 427 Vance Avenue at 00:05 AM for a reported structure fire. Battalion 1 checked on scene with heavy smoke showing from a two story wood frame residential structure. Battalion 1 established command, Safety 1 took safety, Quint 1 established a water supply and took fire attack, Rescue 1 assisted Quint 1, Quint 2 took primary search, Quint 3 took the secondary water supply and back up lines, Squad 1 took ventilation, and Quint 4 assisted the outside team. Division Chief 20 checked on scene, assumed command, and assigned Battalion 1 to operations. Granite Quarry E-571 was assigned salvage, and Locke FD was assigned RIC. Interior crews were able to make a quick knockdown due to an aggressive interior attack, and kept damage on the first floor to a minimum. Crews remained on scene for approximately five hours assisting the homeowner and picking up lines.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To Structure Fire

"A" Shift was dispatched to 707 E. Innes Street at 16:22 PM for a reported structure fire at Captain D's restaurant. Battalion 1 checked on scene with heavy smoke and fire showing on the "B" side. Quint 4 took fire attack, Rescue 1 assisted with fire attack and overhaul, Quint 3 made a lap of the structure and secured utilities, Squad 1 assisted Safety 1 with a primary search. Quint 2 staged while Battalion 1 established command.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To Two Structure Fires

"C" Shift Quint 1, Safety 1, and Quint 3 were dispatched to 412 S. Iredell Ave at 20:10 PM for a working two-alarm fire in Spencer. Quint 3 took water supply and set their ladder at the A/B corner for vertical ventilation. Personnel from Quint 3 assisted Spencer Fire Department with fire attack and overhaul. Quint 1 was ordered to stage at Spencer Fire Department for district coverage, and was later called in to the scene to assist with extensive overhaul of the  balloon frame residential house. Safety 1 was assigned safety and assisted the Incident Commander.

     

"C" Shift was dispatched to 215 Bendix Drive at 21:05 PM for a reported structure fire at Lonestar Steakhouse. Battalion 1 arrived on scene with light smoke showing from the roof. Battalion 1 established command, Rescue 1 took investigation and evacuation of customers, Squad 1 set ground ladders, Quint 2 staged at the hydrant for water supply, Granite Quarry E-571 personnel were sent to the roof for investigation, Quint 4 laddered the "C" side of the structure, while South Salisbury L-74 laddered the "A" Side. Overhaul was performed on the roof for a fire that appeared to be an electrical problem in the neon sign that ignited the wood facade.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To MVA w/ Entrapment

"A" Shift was dispatched to 601 W. Jake Alexander Blvd at 11:16 AM for a reported MVA w/ pin-in. Quint 2 checked on scene with one vehicle down an embankment. Quint 2 checked on the driver, and found that the pt was entrapped, and needed the door popped. Rescue 1 personnel popped the door, while Quint 2 laid a 1 3/4 protection line and took pt care. All other units were released.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To Working Fire

"B" Shift was dispatched to 208 Heilig Ave at 21:30 PM for a reported structure fire. Quint 2 checked on scene with heavy smoke showing, established a water supply, forced entry, and took fire attack. Battalion 1 established command, Quint 1 and Rescue 1 took primary and assisted with forcible entry, Squad 1 placed ground ladders and conducted ventilation, Quint 3 took a secondary water supply and manned the back-up line. A Salisbury Fire Department Captain received minor burn injuries when the floor gave way, and he fell through, landing in the embers. Quint 3 personnel assisted with EMS treatment of our Captain until Rowan EMS could arrive on scene.

Salisbury Fire Department Responds To Working Fire

"B" Shift was dispatched to 132 Birkdale Drive at 13:41 PM for a reported structure fire. Battalion 1 checked on scene with smoke showing from a two story wood frame residential. Battalion 1 established command, Quint 3 took water supply and fire attack, pulling two 1 3/4 lines. Quint 4 took primary search and overhaul, Quint 1 took a second water supply and the back-up line, Squad 1 set ground ladders and conducted ventilation, Rescue 1 took salvage, while Safety 1 had safety. The crews from Quint 3 and Quint 4 got a quick knock down, and kept damage to a minimum. Once again, the first water supply was compromised after a citizen ran over the supply hose.

Salisbury Fire Department Has Annual New Year's Day Pancake Breakfast

Members met once again for the annual New Year's Day pancake breakfast. The event was held at Station 4, and all members were invited. This is a time to bring family to the fire house for breakfast and fellowship.
