Solid Waste (Sanitation)
The Solid Waste (Sanitation) Division is responsible for the collection and disposal of garbage, trash and refuse within the city and is staffed by seven (7) full time employees. Collection of waste and refuse from over 11,000 households and several hundred businesses, occurs on weekdays, 52 weeks each year, including all holidays, except Christmas day.

Every day efforts by the Solid Waste Division are focused on enriching the lives of  citizens by maintaining a clean, healthy environment for all Salisbury residents. Through the regular collection, transportation and disposal of industrial, commercial and residential refuse and other debris using an effective, efficient system of waste management the Solid Waste Division will strive to reduce the amount of solid waste generated and dumped at the Rowan County landfill.

As a pledge to provide the most excellent customer service to every customer, every time, the Solid Waste Division promises to deliver a positive service experience for those visiting, living or working in the City of Salisbury. By performing our responsibilities professionally, honestly, and ethically and listening to our customers and treating everyone with dignity and respect, together our team will work to seek innovative solutions within and across divisions to serve our citizens.
