Salisbury Parks and Recreation maintains 508 acres of beautiful park land, encompassing 22 park properties and parks, a swimming pool and splash pad, a sports complex and a large community park and athletic complex. In addition, the department provides many amenities for public enjoyment, including four recreation facilities, ten tennis courts, five paved sections (4.2 miles) of the Salisbury Greenway, seven cemeteries and maintains urban trees and landscape and medians throughout the City along.

In 2000, Salisbury Parks and Recreation received CAPRA (Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies) accreditation, making the department the 27th accredited department in the country and the second in North Carolina. The department earned reaccreditation status in 2005 and 2010.
Salisbury Parks and Recreation was one of four finalists recognized for excellence in the field of park and recreation management 2011.
