Downtown Right-of-Way Use

Section 22-50 of the City Code allows downtown businesses to obtain permission for temporary use of the public right of way for building construction, maintenance, and special business needs.  The most common requests are for temporary location of a dumpster, scaffold, or special service vehicle.  The City Engineer’s office is authorized to approve most requests for periods up to two weeks.  Requests that require more than two weeks’ use of the public right of way will be presented to City Council for approval.  There is no charge for this service.
